Requirements for Placing Items in a Salt Spray Test Chamber

Source:LINPIN Time:2025-02-18 Category:Industry News

To ensure accurate results from a salt spray test chamber, there are specific standards and requirements for placing items inside the chamber. Typically, the test surface of the item should be positioned at an angle of 15° to 30° from the vertical direction. If possible, maintaining an angle of 20° is preferable. This is the requirement for the test item’s angle. What other requirements are there for placing items? Let’s take a closer look at the details.

Material Requirements for Test Item Supports:
The material of the test item support racks in a salt spray test chamber should be carefully selected. It is recommended to use materials such as plastic or glass for the racks. This is because these materials are resistant to acid, alkali corrosion, and salt spray. If the test items need to be suspended on the support racks, the suspension materials should not be metallic. Instead, they should be made of synthetic fibers, cotton fibers, or other insulating materials that are resistant to salt spray.

Placement Requirements for Test Items:
When placing test items inside the chamber, the test surface should face upwards. This allows the salt spray to settle and deposit on the test surface rather than being directly sprayed onto it. Test items should be placed on different horizontal levels within the chamber but must not touch the chamber walls. There should be a certain distance between the test items and the chamber walls. If multiple test items are being tested, they should also be spaced apart from each other. This ensures that the salt spray can evenly deposit on each test surface and prevents salt spray droplets from one test item from falling onto the test surface of another, which could affect the test results.

Placement of Different Types of Samples:
For flat samples, they should be laid flat on the support racks.
For small, cylindrical samples, they should be tied and suspended from above.
For large test items weighing more than 15 kg, they should be placed directly on the bottom of the chamber. In this case, wooden stakes or supports made of corrosion-resistant materials should be used.

Preparation Before Placing Test Items:
Before placing test items in the chamber, it is important to clean the interior of the chamber and remove any debris. Only after ensuring the chamber is clean should the items be placed inside.
These are the requirements for placing items in a salt spray test chamber. In addition to these, it is also important for operators to ensure that the chamber is properly cleaned and prepared before placing the test items to ensure accurate and reliable test results.

A high-temperature test chamber is equipped with a specialized sealing system, which primarily functions to seal the test chamber door.
Dust/sand test chambers are environmental simulation devices designed and manufactured in accordance with GB/T 2423.37, IEC 60068-2-68, ISO 20653 and other international standards. They are used to evaluate the sealing reliability and corrosion resistance of locks, automotive/motorcycle parts, seals, power meters and other products under sandstorm conditions.
